Garrison Restaurateur Focuses On Hudson Valley At His New Eatery – Putnam Daily Voice

GARRISON, N.Y. — The three-month-old restaurant/live music venue, The Hudson Room may be in Peekskill, but it’s roots are in Putnam.

That’s because Chef/Owner Louis Lanza owns Lanza Farms , a 39-acre homestead in Garrison and is big on using not only what his farm produces, but what’s available in the Hudson Valley.

His “sunnyside Lanza egg” for example, is found on the restaurant’s “Farm Salad,” nestled next to frisse, romaine, grilled chorizo, grilled cauliflower, cabot cheddar-gouda cheese and maple-red wine vinaigrette.

“It’s important to know where your food is coming from,” stresses Lanza who prints the eatery’s mission to “civic responsibility for the growth and maintenance of the area’s food resources” on The Hudson Room’s menu.

While food is his passion, he’s just as meticulous about the cocktail list, which features New York State distilleries. He’s also incredibly devoted to revitalizing Peekskill so stay tuned. As a real estate owner in more than a few downtown buildings — there is more to this story.

The Hudson Room is located at 23 S. Division St., Peekskill, 914-788-FOOD; hudsonroom.com. Lanza Farms can be reached at 845-424-6170 or www.lanzafarms.com.
